SIZE: 3 - 5 mm
LIFECYCLE: females lay 25 to 100 eggs per day, up to a maximum of about 800. The eggs are about half a millimetre in size and hatch on average after 24 hours. The optimum temperature for the development and reproduction of Drosophila is about 25°C.
FEATURES: infests sites used in production of wine, beer, and fruit juice processing, as well as homes and fermenting fruit.
HABITAT: they live off many fermenting substances, where they lay their eggs.
DIET: sour milk, wine, fermenting fruit and vegetables.
