SIZE: 3 - 5 mm
FEATURES: Ants of the genus Lasius live in colonies of medium size, and are very common. They are quite large, with a gray-black colour.
HABITAT: They are usually found outdoors, and rarely present in homes, where they are drawn to sugary liquids that have not been quickly cleaned up.
DIET: in outdoor environments they tend to feed on honeydew, and on living or dead insects. In indoor environments, they are attracted mainly by sugary foods, such as jams, juices and honey. When the brood requires protein for development, workers also seek sources of food such as meat and cheese.
